Definitions: Hydroalcohol and Ethanol

Hydroalcohol is a solution of both water and alcohol. Hydroalcohol is the superior menstruum for making liquid extracts and tinctures. 

Ethanol is ethyl-alcohol which is edible drinking alcohol. Purified ethanol, along with distilled water, is used in the production of hydroalcohol liquid extracts and tinctures.
